I spent years trying to get hold of a nice velvety drawstring bag to keep dice in. I managed to get one from a games shop once, with a load of red glass "blood counters", but it was really a bit too small, and wore out after a while. Someone else in my gaming group had managed to get hold of a really nice sized black bag, and I was always jealous of that.

I always asked in games shops, but they never had any.

And then I found the answer.

It seems that jewellery is sometimes sold in exactly these kinds of bags.

(No, I didn't know either).

So a jewellers will probably have them, but a jeweller's supply shop is probably best. These don't sell jewellery. Instead, they sell all the bits and pieces associated with it, to jewellers.

If you're in London, there is one called Pollards in St Cross Street, just off Hatton Garden, near Farringdon and Chancery Lane underground stations. They've got a big range of velvety, draw-string bags, of various sizes and colours, at prices between about 50p and a pound.

And if any of you think this is too obvious to be published as a "tip"...

Well all I can say is, I didn't know.
