Professor Nexus, We at Archangel Studios believe the research you're undertaking is very important -- though to whom we couldn't say :) The market can support a variety of playing styles, evidenced by the various character generation methods in the 3rd Ed sourcebooks, suitable for low-, normal- and high-powered campaigns (and even labelled as such). To the extent WOTC envisioned a system to satisfy a diversity of gaming needs, it seems reasonable that modules should as well. That said, we see the existence of overly generous scenarios as a natural and healthy evolution of the D20 system. That, or the lack of quality writers and editors. Regardless, miserly GMs need not worry: there will always be stingy adventures for them to offer their players. * * * We're curious if you've done any research on the subject of quality versus quantity, and if the explosion of D20 product must inexorably mean a rise in the overall "suckage factor". If so, we apologize for whatever share of this increasing suckage is our fault. Regards, Archangel Studios (www.archangel-studios.com) Text copyright 2002 Archangel Studios |
